Privacy policy
Legcast is a browser extension that shows your DartCounter match in OBS Studio on your own computer. This page explains what data the extension and this website use, and where that data goes. Short version: your matches, camera images, stats and clips stay on your computer. We don't run analytics, we don't sell anything and we don't use advertising.
Who we are
Legcast is responsible for Legcast and this website. You can reach us through our contact form.
What the extension reads
- The score, player names and statistics that DartCounter shows in your browser.
- The camera images that DartCounter shows in your browser (your camera and your opponent's).
- Your own settings and a history of the matches you played.
Where that data goes
Match data and camera images are only sent to OBS Studio on your own computer, through its local WebSocket connection (127.0.0.1). Settings, match history and stats are stored in your browser's own storage. Clips are saved in your Downloads folder or by OBS on your computer. None of this is sent to us or to anyone else.
Licence and payment
To check your subscription, the extension sends your licence key, a random device ID and a device name (for example "Legcast on Windows") to our payment provider Polar (polar.sh). Polar is the merchant of record: it handles the payment, invoices, VAT and licence keys for us. When you buy, Polar processes your name, email address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your full payment details. We can see your name, email address and order in the Polar dashboard so we can help you with your subscription.
"Now playing" (Spotify, optional, off by default)
If you switch on "Now playing", Legcast reads which song is playing on Spotify (title, artist and cover art) to show it in your stream for a few seconds. With the Spotify web player this happens inside your browser. If you connect your own Spotify app instead, the extension asks Spotify directly for the current song, using the login you give it. Your Spotify tokens stay in your browser and are not sent anywhere else.
Phone as a camera (optional)
If you choose to use your phone as the player camera, your phone opens a page from VDO.Ninja (vdo.ninja) and the camera image goes through that service straight to OBS on your computer. Legcast creates a random, secret code for this that is only stored on your computer. See the VDO.Ninja documentation for how they handle the connection.
Your opponent's camera
In online matches Legcast can show your opponent's camera in your stream. That image belongs to your opponent: ask them before you broadcast it. You can switch it off in the settings.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Fonts and images are served from this site itself. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and time of the request) for a short time for security and to keep the site running. When you click a buy button, you go to Polar's checkout, where Polar's privacy policy applies.
Contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, our hosting provider Netlify stores your name, email address, the topic, the optional order reference and your message, and forwards them to us by email. We only use these details to answer you, and we delete them once your question is handled, unless we need them for an ongoing subscription or order.
How long we keep data
Data in the extension stays in your browser until you remove it: removing the extension deletes your settings, stats and history. Clips stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them. Order and licence data is kept by Polar for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us which personal data we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Send your request through the contact form. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country.
Changes
If we change how Legcast handles data, we update this page and the date at the top.
